There are many pictures swirling around right now of the ALTNYC event. So I thought I would take a different approach and bring you some of the tidbits that stood out for me, some that I think will make an impact in the kid’s craft & design world.
What a spectacular event. ALTNYC offered more than I ever imagined. In just 24 hours I met some of the most creative and motivated people. I’m exhausted and inspired and need to sort it all out. There are new innovations in how to search for design resources, newly published books, craft masters, DIY innovators, educational platforms & color palettes galore.
But just to let you know how good it is, I’ll give you a sneak of a “good thing.” Until next week, just imagine what it felt like to be 5 feet away. Now, this is the beginning of a good summer.
So as you are all aware, I am headed to NY for ALTNYC. I am hopefully on the plane right now! Wednesday night I will be meeting atly, one of our sponsors. They are a new education website that just launched last month. They are looking for instructors; and I have ideas forever. I want my own channel…like Oprah.
The prep work is in full swing for ALTNYC. I am meeting some incredibly creative people on-line who are attending. Design can be a lonely job sometimes. There are many hours spent in a studio sketching, sewing, planning, and sourcing. Being surrounded by over 300 creatives will be heaven. Most importantly, I’m hoping to bring some incredible new ideas home to you, my readers. This is just a few items I’ve collected to share with my new ALT friends. The final result will be revealed soon.
AltNYC is about a week away. There is so much to do. I'm working on marketing materials right now. And in focusing on my mission to revamp the idea of the kids room into a place of visions and dreams I came across this. This is me. I was probably 3. But I remember knowing what I loved, where I loved to be, and what made me happy. It really is that basic. So I think I'll start from here.
