During his single days, Ethan would literally swing from the chandeliers. Elves are crazy! Just to prove my point, I have searched high and low to find out what some of the boldest and most playful elves have been up to. And let me just say, shelves are almost never where you find them. This is my top 20 favorites…the finale of which is our own, reliable guy, Ethan. Twinkle, you’ve made him a new man.
If you have been wondering what Juvenile Hall Design has been up to for the past two weeks, here is your answer. This weekend we proudly launched a collection of Hand-made "Vintage Industrial" Holiday Ornaments. All are made from an unusual collection of materials: linen, paint, fur, buttons, ribbons, hardware, jewels, wire, ropes, feathers, canvas, glitter, paper, zippers, metal…you name it, it's probably in there.
It’s that time of year again. Mom’s packing special hand-made lunches for their kid’s…kids taking them to school for the daily swap meet. I remember being a kid and getting the same tuna fish sandwich every day. Life was simple. But my favorite part of lunch was my lunchbox. It wasn’t insulated. It wasn’t machine washable. But it was totally groovy.
Chances are, with the advancements in the area of infertility, you know at least one person who has twins. Today it’s more common than ever before. And designing with this little curveball…sorry, these little curveballs, can sometimes be a challenge. Space, theme, colors, and gender…they are all factors to consider. But the incredible choices that are available now are limitless. Sometimes the way to make things work is to shake things up.
Today we are cheering on Shari Stamps from the chic and sassy website Popsugar.com, more specifically Popsugar Moms. Emphasizing the importance of fun and inspiration when designing a kid’s room, Juvenile Hall Design had two of their room designs chosen to represent the cause.
In my recent posts, I’ve mentioned how it is so exciting that blogging has presented me with a “new” element in my design career. And I have received such positive feedback over these first few months. Thank you to all of you who are sticking by me while I find my voice. I’m so grateful.
One question I have been asked during this time is “How did you start doing children’s rooms?” Well, THIS design is room number ONE! My very first kids room ever.
Now here is the scary part. It is possible that the boy who slept in this nursery could drive right by me on the road. He might even be…dare I say…in college. Oh my god!
And yet I remember this project so clearly. It was a very powerful time for me. This project took me down a path that until that point, I never even considered. Now it’s like breathing. Designing for kids allows me to experience fantasy and imagination to the extreme. I feel so privileged to have had so many parents invite me to create these whimsical spaces for their kids. I am a lucky woman.
Nightstands are incredibly useful, but they can also take up a lot of space in smaller rooms. For this reason, we took a simple and inexpensive IKEA table and fashioned it into a drop down nightstand.
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and husband Prince William had a baby boy yesterday. His title will be “His Royal Highness Prince (the baby's name) of Cambridge.” It’s amazing to think I remember when Williams mother, Princess Diana, first appeared with him in her arms.
