Nightstands are incredibly useful, but they can also take up a lot of space in smaller rooms. For this reason, we took a simple and inexpensive IKEA table and fashioned it into a drop down nightstand.
This is the Norberg Wall Mounted Drop-down table from IKEA. It is less than $30. (IKEA has other versions of this also such as the Norbo. Choose the look and size that works best for your space. ) What I love about this is product is that it is so simple in it’s design. It’s like getting function handed to you on a platter (pun intended!) With a little bit of creativity, this can be personalized into many different styles.
For this girl’s room, we went in search of a hand painted English tea tray. We found several that we liked. But one was perfect in color, size and shape.
Before mounting the table to the wall, we drilled 4 screws through the tray right into the tabletop, making sure it had room to lift up flush with the wall. Then we just followed the instructions for mounting the table. That’s it. Fancy, functional, foldable, and fabulous.
Here are a few other ideas of what might be used instead of the tea tray. What will you come up with? Send it our way. We would love to see it.
