It's July in San Francisco, well, I guess it's July everywhere really. But as much as summer is supposed to be about hot days and cold lemonade, here it is chilly, windy and foggy. Still it's a bit lazy. So I thought I would start a new series of posts called "Feisty Fridays." Each Friday I will post something that really shakes things up...sort of gives you a little jolt in the world of kids room design. This week, it's wallpaper. Get ready to Roll with Roddy & Ginger. How awesome is this graphic piece. If you're the type that loves the storybook, rustic vibe until you vacation in it, smell that "lived in" scent, pee on an old olive green toilet, find ants in your sink...then you sleep at night and dream of stainless steel and glass, this might be a good alternative. Whoa, that was a scary flashback. And I love that it could work for boys and girls of many ages.
Above is a red lattice paper by Squinted Limited. Personally I prefer not to squint at this one because then I'm seeing it doubled! I don't think I would do a whole room in this, but one wall for some serious fun.
This is "Flavor Paper!" And it is...wait for it...SCRATCH & SNIFF!!! Oh my god. That's crazy. What I want to know is if they have some covered in fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. No kid could ever be afraid to go to sleep if their room smelled like hot cookies.
Now let's take it down a bit to a more chill vibe. This tile paper is very cool with the retro stuff. But mix it with a canopy and doll house, or or some super modern "Dwell" style furniture and you have a smooth mix that will last through many ages.
This gives the phrase, "You're batty." new meaning. And are those venus fly traps mixed in there? I have a lot of friends from college who would have loved this in their younger macabre days.
Trippy...For a basement playroom...until they become teenagers. Then this is just bad parenting ; )
Our final paper is the most talented of them all. This is hologram paper. Forget those portraits with the eyes that seem to follow you around the room, this actually does follow you around the room.
Now I'm really afraid. Close my eyes...think hot cookies, hot cookies, hot cookies...
