Designed for you by a designer that knows you inside and out, your kids. Dads, you will have to pitch in on this one, but mostly toward the end.
You will need the following:
1. A piece of cloth approximately 10” x 20” roughly
2. A glue gun and some glue sticks
3. Some fabric scraps, ones that mom might like
4. About a yard of a rope or thick ribbon
5. A pair of scissors
6. One safety pin.
Start with your large piece of fabric. Lay it out in front of you horizontally.
Then take your scrap fabrics and cut them into different size pieces. Place them in a nice pattern as you cut. They don’t need to be perfect. They can overlap. Most importantly, if the design on them has an obvious top and bottom, pretend that there is a vertical line directly down the middle of the large piece. The tops of the designs should face out to the left and right.
Once you have your piece cut and planned out, take your hot glue gun. Glue them down making sure to secure their edges. Now, flip the entire piece over.
Take the long sides and run glue down the edge. Fold the edge over the glue to create a hem.
Next, move to the shorter sides. Come in about 2 inches and run a long line of glue again. But this time, when folding over the hem, be sure the edge just covers the glue so there is a tunnel to later run your ribbon through.
Once that is complete, fold the cloth in half bringing the two shortest sides together. The fold is now the bottom of your pouch. The two short edges are the top opening, and the two long folded edges will now be the sides of the pouch. Start at the top of each side and run glue down in-between the pieces so you seal up your sides.
You will now need your rope or ribbon. Attach a safety pin to one end and thread through the tunnel you created on one top edge, pulling and gathering as you work your way across. Once you are out the other side, simple cross back and enter the next hole to complete the circle on the opposite side.
Once you have both ends back together, remove your safety pin. Tie a knot at each end of the rope so they don’t fray. Take the ends; pull the ribbon through the cloth, while pushing the cloth away from you.
You now have pull ties and a fully completed little pouch. A pouch to fill with special treats for mom, made by the ones she loves…something she can use and keep forever. Dads, you might want to slip a little something in there yourself. Just a thought ; )
Happy Mothers Day, Everyone.
