If you are just joining in, we are doing a bit of an experiment. How does our everyday life influence how we design? I suggest you go back and read before jumping ahead or you will miss some fun stuff.
With my palette photo in hand, I decided to start at the fabric store. I decided to choose some fabrics I might use for bedding, pillows or curtains. This is what I chose. One sample is for a girl’s room, the other for a boy.
I have had the job of designing a space where a brother and sister shared a room. That can be a challenge at times. I’m aware I’m making generalizations here. All of these are interchangeable of course. But I do find kids tend to follow a bit more traditional path. Whether it is instinctual or learned, I’m not sure. But this is about YOUR kid so you know what is best.
They vary in color, pattern and theme. But they all work together, most importantly because of their weight. To understand weight better, read "Spoil Me Rotten Jonathan Adler." It will make a bit more sense.
The next step I want you to do is look for accessories. Buy what you are attracted to. You may end up returning some of it, but you don’t want to edit now. Just keep an open mind. Tomorrow we will se what we find. Happy hunting! : )
