Tomorrow, April 24th is “Admin Day” formerly
known as Secretary’s Day. Time for
your kids to thank the school secretary, or what I like to call “The Other
Mother.” If you have kids in school, I’m sure you will agree.
This year, just due to my kids alone, these patient souls have had to deal with chronic migraines, the flu, a broken arm, head lumps (due to running backwards into a metal pole), inhalers, and the common cold. Thank god I spent all of those months breastfeeding them to build their immunities : o
I think it is only appropriate that the kid’s give them a little something for their efforts. And it doesn’t hurt to keep it light and humorous…the year is not over yet.
This project is easy for anyone. It’s very inexpensive. And it takes nothing more than a trip to the pharmacy and the Starbucks, which I do almost every day anyway.
Take a tall plastic cup and fill it with cotton balls. Stop about an inch from the top. Next, plop in 2 nice thick milkshake straws. Then get a roll of gauze and swirl it around into a nice dollop. Do you see where I’m going yet?
Drizzle it with a swirl of a few band-aids. Then top it off with a sprinkle of brightly colored earplugs. Elmer’s glue will hold them in place if needed.
For the final touches, slide in a Starbucks gift card; and don’t forget the drink sleeve.
When your kids walk in with this morning latte, “The Other Mother” will be tickled pink.
Happy Admin Day, Ladies.
