"Design, for me, is not only a career, but also a compulsion.  For me color has a flavor and pattern is music.  For nearly 20 years, I have had the opportunity to create fantasies for children through bold, whimsical  environments filled with hand-crafted inspirational products.  Defining the eclectic and changing styles of clients from New York to Los Angeles, and now San Francisco, I have encountered many design challenges.  With children having the bravest and most courageous design requests, they have been my focus and passion.  With my companies, Juvenile Hall Design, and previously, Illusions of Grandeur, I have had the privilege of conceptualizing over 1200 kids rooms, educational tools and projects, play spaces, libraries, schools, hotels and restaurants including a full puppet cast for theater production.  Immersing myself in the craft, maker and theater communities across the country, I have had the privilege of working and designing with some of the most prolific and celebrated artists in their field.   Whether designing for the classical sophisticate or the whimsical comedian, interpreting the visions of my clients, and developing their dream remains my ultimate goal."

Gratefully,

Ellen Mattesi, Founder and CEO of Juvenile Hall Design
